The Region

The heart of our District is the city of Kamloops, which has a population of more than 97,000 people. The District extends to Pinantan Lake, Heffley Creek, Barriere, Clearwater, Vavenby and Blue River to the north, Logan Lake to the south, Savona to the west and Chase and Westwold to the east.

Serving 16,638 students, 3,099 students of Aboriginal ancestry in 49 schools our District offers a variety of enhancement programs, including: French immersion, International Baccalaureate, sports academies, trades programs, a K-12 fine arts school, Montessori, and an elementary science and technology school.

School District No. 73 is located on the territory of the Secw茅pemc Nation and serves seven local bands in a large geographical area. 糖心Swag covers more than 27,000 kilometres and buses about 4,300 students more than 9,100 kilometres every day. We have 35 elementary schools, 11 secondary schools, one Kindergarten-to-Grade 12 school, two alternate education programs and one distance education school. We employ 2,650 people and have an annual budget of $245 million.

Teaching

Teaching staff in this district generally find employment first through our Teachers Teaching on Call (TTOC) list. Permanent positions are usually filled from the TTOC lists. Openings for the TTOC are posted to the website.

Support Staff 

Support staff within School District No. 73  belong to the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 3500 and include the following classifications: Accounting Clerks, Certified Education Assistants, Clerical, Custodial, Grounds, Library, Purchasing, Skilled/Technical Trades, and Transportation. 

Support staff positions are filled internally, whenever possible. The District maintains a roster of relief employees within the clerical, custodial, Certified Education Assistants and transportation classifications. Hiring to the relief rosters is done on an ongoing basis, and applications should be submitted through the  website.
